Government
Over the years Searcy and White County have been fortunate to have men and women who were willing to give of themselves, their time, their talents and resources to make our community a better place to live. Their vision and leadership has contributed to the growth and success of our community.

City of Searcy
A Mayor/Council form of government manages the City of Searcy. There are eight Aldermen who each serve 2-year terms and the Mayor who serves a 4-year term. The Mayor is responsible for management of all the city's departments and funds. City administration is with Council approval. A 62-member Police Department and 37 member Fire Department serve the city. There are three fire station locations in Searcy and our Insurance Service Organization rating is Class Two. The City also operates the Street and Sanitation Department, Parks and Recreation Department, Airport and Animal Control.
Those wishing to place a matter on the council agenda or appeal before the group at the regular meeting may do so by notifying the city clerk no later than noon on the first Thursday of each month. Requests to present an ordinance or resolution should be accompanied by 10 copies of the ordinance or other matter. The council meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
White County
The White County government provides services to all citizens in the county. Departments and agencies include: Cooperative Extension Service, County Roads, County Schools, Department of Public Welfare, Health Department, Detention Center, Juvenile Probation Officer, Voter Registration and Library.
The County Judge is the Chief Executive Officer for the county and serves a two-year term. The residents elect a county-wide legislative body called the Quorum Court, composed of 13 Justices of the Peace each representing a geographic district within the county. Together, the County Judge and the Justices of the Peace govern the county.
